Understanding Headlight Condensation vs. Water Ingress
Condensation Clears on Its Own — Pooling Water Requires a Warranty Claim
Only one of these conditions is covered under warranty. Here's how to tell them apart.
Quick Comparison
| Condensation | Water Ingress | |
|---|---|---|
| Appears as | Light fogging or fine mist on lens | Pooling water or large persistent droplets |
| Clears with heat? | ✅ Yes — within a couple of hours | ❌ No — remains after operation |
| Indicates | Normal moisture behavior | Compromised seal |
| Warrantable? | ❌ No | ✅ Yes* |
*Provided the ingress is not caused by abuse, misuse, or opening the housing.
What to Do
Condensation clears within 2 hours of operation? No action required — this is normal.
Moisture persists after 2+ hours, or you see pooling water? Contact your authorized J.W. Speaker dealer to initiate a warranty claim.
⚠️ Important: Do not open the housing to investigate moisture. Opening the lamp voids the factory seal and will disqualify the product from warranty coverage.
